The Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.),formerly known as ETT, is a two-year full-time professional teacher training program offered by M.K. College of Education. The program is regulated by SCERT, Punjab, and designed to prepare aspiring teachers to effectively educate children at the primary and upper primary levels (Classes I–VIII).

The D.El.Ed. program aligns with the norms and standards set by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and focuses on developing reflective, skilled, and compassionate educators for 21st-century classrooms.

It is offered as a Regular course under the Department of Education, M.K. College of Education, which is affiliated with Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar. The curriculum emphasizes both theoretical and practical components, including child psychology, pedagogy, classroom management, and school-based training, ensuring holistic teacher development and professional competence.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should have passed Graduation with minimum 50% marks in case of general category and 45 % in case of SC, ST and other Backward Classes/ BC and physically handicapped candidates from recognized institution. No candidate with re-appear/compartment/ result later etc. in qualifying examination shall be eligibile for admission.

Candidates must have passed punjabi upto Metric level/Standard.

To ensure high quality standards, any candidate who has not passed in the subjects –English, Hindi, Punjabi, Science, Social Studies and Mathematics in Class X examination shall not be eligible for admission to D.El.Ed. course.

Fee & Scholarship

1 CTSET Scholarship Scheme
  • Establishment of a collective scholarship fund of ₹20 crore to support students across academic programmes.
  • Scholarships to be awarded based on performance in CTSET or any other assessment mechanism approved/notified by the University.
  • Scholarship slabs (slab 2) to be applicable as per the approved fee structure.
  • Continuation of the scholarship shall be subject to academic performance and institutional norms.
2 CT Alumni Scholarship Scheme
  • Top Slab (>85%) plus 25% onetime discount on first semester fee only, will be given to all the Alumni Students. The Top Slab throughout all semesters.
  • Note: If the student already has Uniform, even if he took admission in last year or so but did not complete the course and want re-admission, no Uniform fee and Library fee will be charged from him. But the condition is that he should not have taken refund of that fee.
  • Applicable to graduates of CT Institutions enrolling in higher-level programmes within the CT Group.
  • In case of course change, uniform fee shall be payable as per the revised course.
3 Sibling Fee-Waiver Scheme
  • If the existing students bring their own siblings for admission than we will provide Top Slab plus 25% onetime discount on first semester fee to the newly admitted student. The Top Slab throughout all semesters for first sibling.
  • Proof of sibling relationship and concurrent enrollment shall be mandatory.
4 Teachers Scholarship (Non CT Group):-
(Blood Relation Only)
If ward of Teaching Staff of any School College of a recognized school board/University will take admission with us then Top Slab (85% & Above Slab) plus 25% onetime discount on first semester fee will be given.

Conditions: Parent must be a regular Teacher/In-Service, the Board (CBSE/PSEB/ICSE etc./University should be recognized, Parent should have at least one year of Job Certificate.
5 CT Staff/Supporting Staff Ward:-
  • For CT Staff/ Supporting Staff Ward Top Slab plus 25% discount on every semester fee will be given. Condition will be that staff member must be with us from the last one year.
6 Special Educational Fee Concession for Children of Serving Armed Forces Personnel (only for first semester)
  1. Applicable to candidates whose one parent is actively serving in the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Police, CRPF, or other recognized forces.
  2. Fee concession structure:
    • Punjab domicile: 25% of semester fee
    • Outside Punjab: 50% of semester fee
  3. Relevant service and domicile documents shall be mandatory.
CONDITION APPLY:-
  • The Scholarship will be provided after submission of full fee.
  • The Fee will be non refundable.

How to Apply?

Fill the Entrance Exam Form

  • Visit the official Punjab State SCERT website.
  • Register and complete the D.El.Ed. Entrance Exam Application Form.
  • Upload necessary documents and pay the application fee.

Appear for the Entrance Exam

  • Download your admit card.
  • Take the entrance exam as scheduled by SCERT.
  • Wait for the results and merit list publication.
3

Participate in Online Counselling (3 Rounds)

  • Register for online counselling as per your rank in the merit list.
  • Fill in your preferred colleges and course choices.
  • Seat allotment is conducted through three rounds of counselling.

Report to the Allotted Institute

  • After each counselling round, report to the allotted institute.
  • Submit the required documents and admission fee to confirm your seat.
5

Admission through Management Quota

  • After completion of all counselling rounds, management quota seats are filled directly by institutions.
  • Contact the college for seat availability and admission details.
6

Commencement of Classes

Once admissions are finalized, classes commence as per the academic schedule and university guidelines.
